Happy Friday and welcome back! Today I wanted to talk about how important the small things in life are. This week I had a few experiences that reminded me of that. I think often times with our busy lives, the small things can get lost in the shuffle.
For those of you that don’t know, any changes in the weather affect my health. So, when it decided to rain and be cloudy for a few days, I was preparing to feel extra crummy. But instead, I was feeling abnormally well, which I wasn’t complaining about. It was very unexpected, but I am so grateful for it. Due to feeling better I decided to do some activities I hadn’t been feeling good enough to do. The first activity that came to mind was shooting hoops. For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been playing basketball since I was 4, and I LOVE IT! It had been months and months since I had even touched a basketball. It felt so great to play again and it made me SO HAPPY.
On Tuesday nights my church does a sports night, and this month’s sport is volleyball. I’m usually not that into volleyball, but I couldn’t pass the opportunity up because I was feeling THAT good. I’ve learned whenever I’m feeling better, I need to take full advantage of it. Even if it’s something I’m not that interested in, #igettoandiam. And all I’m going to say is I might like volleyball a little more now 😉 .
Not only was I able to participate in those activities, but when I’m feeling better like this, I have a huge amount of energy. When I have that much energy, I feel the most normal, and having more energy helps all my symptoms. For example, my brain fog and chronic pain aren’t as bad. I’m not saying they’re gone completely, but my quality of life is definitely better.
Now I know that you all don’t have chronic illnesses, but whatever struggles you are dealing with I hope that if you are able to get some relief, you take full advantage of it. If you don’t, who knows when the next time will be. For me, the extra energy is already gone and I’m back to feeling how I usually do. So, live in the moment and try to enjoy every minute of it, especially the small moments.
A quote that I really love, that fits well with this topic and is a great reminder of this is:

This quote is so true and accurate to me! Over the years I have learned and appreciated every moment. I know that there are people who have to deal with far worse things. That’s why this quote seems so applicable to me. We all go through good and bad times, but if we are grateful for all the small and in between moments, our bad times won’t really seem bad. And we’ll learn to truly appreciate the good times.
I hope this quote can help you like it has helped me. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you all next Friday. If you’d like to reach me you can do so at IgettoandIam@gmail.com or @igettoandiam on Instagram.
